STRESS: WHY YOU SHOULD SEEK HELP

Stress is the number one killer today and even though we are told this on an almost daily basis; most of us just ignore the stress, hoping that it will go away. Putting stress on the long finger and ignoring it, until it is too late, can lead to serious health, relationship and personal problems. The stress must be addressed now and with professional help.

Some of the signs to look for are:

  • Insomnia, nightmares, disturbing dreams
  • Difficulty concentrating, racing thoughts
  • Feeling overloaded or overwhelmed
  • Depression, frequent or wild mood swings
  • Feelings of loneliness or worthlessness

If these types of symptoms occur and you are feeling anxious, then there is need to seek help. Don’t wait, don’t sit there thinking it is just a passing phase, or you can handle it by yourself: go and talk to someone.

Stress at a minor or moderate level can easily be turned around and dealt with using a number of different techniques. However if you leave it too late, you are really asking for trouble. Severe or chronic stress is very difficult to treat and if left untreated, can develop into depression or some other chronic psychiatric illness.
